STIRLING MP Alyn Smith has backed the national campaign to promote lamb as the perfect meat with which to celebrate St Andrews Day.
The campaign, led by United Auctions, has received support from a wide variety of sector partners, including Quality Meat Scotland, the National Farmers Union Scotland, the National Sheep Association Scotland, and the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers Scotland.

Working with a whole range of community partners across the country, including schools, the campaign aims to boost sales of Scottish-sourced lamb, showcase sustainable farming practices and support local farmers and producers.
Mr Smith said: "I’ve heard time and time again from constituents, it was local family butchers and farms who helped keep shelves stocked and plates full during the height of the pandemic and lockdown.
"As awareness and interest grows around the origin of the food on our plates, and consumers increasingly turn their attention to buying local, this St Andrew’s Day is a perfect opportunity to put those values into action.

"Scotch lamb is world-renowned for its high-quality, and the industry has consistently impressed with sustainable and ethical farming practices. I’m very happy to promote Scotch lamb for this coming St Andrew’s Day, and hope households across Stirling can do their small part to celebrate quality Scottish agriculture and farming - and buy local."
