A mixed show for quality at Craig Wilson Marts' weekly sale witnessed 1646 prime lambs sell to average 232.2p having topped at £130.50 for a pen of Beltex from Scott Service, Balgreggan and 269.1p for more of the same from P Hunter Blair, Nether Cleugh.
Ewes peaked at £143 for a pen of 14 Texel crosses from S and A McCaig, Mount Pleasant, while Lleyn tups sold to £120 from S and J Corcoran, North Drummoddie.
Penrith
Last Wednesday, vendors enjoyed a buoyant trade at Penrith and District Farmers Marts' weekly primestock sale, where trade levelled at 242p and reached a top price of 341p for a pair of 39kg Beltex cross Texels from Messrs Lowis, Galloper Park, Tebay and to £145 for a pen of 56kg Texel cross Mules from DG and LM Strong, Sleagill House.
Texels topped the cast sheep trade at £220 from Backmuir Farm.
Wooler
Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of primestock included a show of 1443 lambs and 406 cast ewes and rams, where trade levelled at 241p having reached a top price of £140 for Texels from Little Bavington or to 289p for more of the same from Tritlington Hall.
Cast sheep met a firm trade, with the sale topping at £175 twice for Beltex from Newham Buildings.
Dumfries
A top of 262p was attained for a Limousin cross heifers from D and E Lockhart, Fauldingcleugh at C and D Auction Marts' prime sale, while OTM's also met a solid trade making £1182.15 for a Charolais from Carterton or to 135p for a Friesian from Braehead.
The 959 prime lambs also sold on the same day were led by Texels from The Waterhole at £129 from Druidhall and Braco or to 265p for more of the same from Netherton, to level at 235.8p.
Among the 465 cast sheep, a top price of £128 was attained for Texels from Druidhall and Braco, to cash in at £84.14.
Forfar
Limousins took the top prices at Lawrie and Symington's weekly primestock sale, with bullocks peaking at 282p for a 560kg cross from the Gask and to £1702.80 for a 660kg entry from Nethermyres, to average 266p.
Among the heifers, trade topped at 294p per kg and £1728.72 for a 588kg Limousin from the Gask, to balance out at 253p.
Some 701 prime lambs were also on offer to a keen ringside of bidders, with prices topping at 279p per kg from Mains of Dalrulzion and to £127 from Townhead, Marykirk, Fallaw and Mains of Dalrulzion, to level at 220p with an SQQ of 218p.
Charollais from West Pitcorthie led the 261 cast ewe trade at £126.
Huntly
Continental bred sheep were the pick of the bunch at United Auctions' weekly primestock sale, where 711 prime lambs averaged 214.5p and reached a top price of 265p for 35.5kg Beltex from Mains of Skeith, Deskford and to £140 for 68.5kg Texels from Dunscroft, Huntly.
The 833 cast ewes welcomed a flying trade this week, having peaked at £210 for a pair of Texels from Dunscroft, Huntly.
Stirling (Cale)
Bullocks and heifers levelled at 234p and 240p respectively at Caledonian Marts' prime cattle sale, with bullocks attaining a top price of 265p for a Limousin from Easter Ochtermuthill and to £1616 for another of the same from M Orr and Son, Penston, Macmerry.
Limousins also led the heifer section at 285p and £1668 from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.
Bulls sold to £1345 and 228p for a British Blue from C Dick, Taylorton, Stirling, while OTM's cashed in at 154p having sold to 203p for a Charolais from W Paterson, Craighead, Stirling and to £1380 for a Simmental from WJF Ramsay, Cardryne. Stranraer.
Dairy types achieved a top price of 168p and £930 from TM Ralston and Son, East Drumlemble, Campbeltown, while Mid Muntloch, Stranraer led the cast males at 158p and to £1620 for a bullock again from Cardryne, Stranraer.
The firm also held it's weekly prime lamb sale where Stephanie Dick, Westerton, Stirling topped the trade at £140 for Blue Texels or to 282p for a pair of Beltex crosses from Scott at Braco Castle, Braco, to level at 210p.
Cast ewes made £188 for a pen of Texels from T Mitchell, Easter Gormyre, Torphichen, while tups sold to £162 for a pen of Cheviots from J Gilvear and Sons, Graystale, Stirling.
Stirling UA
United Auctions sold 7047 prime sheep comprising of 5074 new season lambs, which achieved an average of 228.03p with Beltex dominating the trade at £142 from Lintibert and 311p from Strageath Hall.
Cast ewes peaked at £200 for Texels from Carriston, while tups made £154 for more of the same from Lossit.
Thainstone
Trade was a flyer at the recent primestock sale held by Aberdeen and Northern Marts, where bullocks levelled at 233p having sold to 245p per kg for a 605kg Limousin cross from Whitesdie, Tullynessle and £1539.25 for a 655kg similar animal from Diamonds, Deerness.
Heifers enjoyed an increase in averages on the corresponding week, cashing in at 232.4p having topped at 255p and £1555.50 for a 610kg Limousin cross from Stoneyhill, Keith-Hall.
Texels led the sale of 1042 prime lambs which balanced out at 211.5p and reached a top of 264.6p for a pair of 48kg’s from Collieston, Fordoun and £129 for a pen of 53kg entries from Muir Farm, Alford.
Pittkenkerrie, Glassel led the cast sheep with a Texel ram making £175.
Longtown
A larger show of 4335 new season spring lambs were for sale to a busy ringside of buyers and vendors enjoyed a buoyant trade with prices peaking to 345p for Beltex lambs from TR and EA Milburn and Son, Wallend, Carlisle or to £182 for a Texels from AM and L Sutherland, Carran, Thurso.
The whole sale averaged 236.4p with an SQQ average of 236.2p.
All classes of cast sheep were in demand, with trade topping at £210 for Texel ewes from J Stephenson and Sons, West Millhills, Hexham, while tups attained £210 for Texels from Beckfoot.
Lanark
On Monday, Limousins dominated all classes of cattle at Lawrie and Symington's sale, where a top of £1804 and 276p was paid for an entry from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, while bullocks sold to £1652 and 270p for more of the same from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall Farm, Cupar.
Prices peaked to £1585 among the beef cattle for Limousins from Messrs Warnock, Dreva Farm, Biggar or to 191p from Messrs Renwick, Traquir Know, Innerleithen, while dairy cows sold to £1225 and 170p from Messrs Smith, Greentowers Farm, Lanark.
Some 84 calves and stirks were also forward, where stirks peaked at £665 for a pair of Aberdeen-Angus bullocks from The Faulds, West Kilbride and beef bull calves topped at £370 for a British Blue from Hillhead.
Heifers reached a top price of £355 for a British Blue again, from Bransfield with dairy bull calves achieving £150 for a Holstein from Longlea.
Trade was a flyer among the 3811 prime lambs on offer, with the sale topping at £145 for Texels from Messrs Clark, Blackhill and to 309p for Beltex from Messrs Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill, to cash in at 221p with an SQQ of 220p.
The 1577 cast ewes and rams reached a top price of £214 for Texels from Messrs Clark, Blackhill and to £87 for Blackface from Mitchellslacks.
St Boswells
Harrison and Hetherington's weekly prime sale witnessed bullocks (23) and heifers (36) average 243p and 250p respectively, with bullocks having sold to £1615.44 and 262p from Pathhead.
Heifers made £1560.60 from Bee Edge and 274p from Mosstower.
Prime lambs were led by Texels from Crumhaughhill at £139 or to 293p for Beltex from Crookston, to balance out at 226.7p.
Cast sheep topped at £155 twice for tups, firstly from Messrs Weir of Mainside for a Texel and again for a Berrichon from Bowden Moor and Broomilees Farms, while ewes peaked at £147 for Texels from Weir of Mainside.
Carlisle
Limousin cattle took all the top prices at Harrison and Hetherington's sale, where heifers topped at £1940 for an entry from Hosket Hill Farm and bullocks attained a top of £1896 from Hundith House.
A larger show of 430 cast cows were on offer , where Gary Bell, Haas Side Farm's run of cattle topped the trade at 225.5p and £1923 for a 853kg Blonde.
Among the prime lambs, Messrs Todd, Longhurst led the way at £158 for a pair of Texels and to 351p for 41kg Dutch Texel lambs from Messrs Wigham, Hargill House, to balance out at 230p.
The 228 cast sheep peaked at £190 was a Texel ram lamb from Messrs Mallinson, The Hill.
Ayr
It was a flyer of a day at Craig Wilson Marts' prime sheep sale, where 2371 lambs averaged 225.8p having peaked at £125 on two occasions, firstly for a pen of Texels from John Young and Sons, Castle Mains and then for a Texel from Kerr Wilson, Yonderfield Cottage, which led the per kg section at 297.6p.
Top price of the day among the cast ewes went to Messrs Webb, West Tarelgin for Texels at £140.
On Tuesday, the firm sold heifers to top at 270p and £1566 for a Limousin cross from the Smith family from North Boig, while bullocks peaked at 254p for a Charolais off Carskerdo or £1464.75 for a Limousin from South Corton.
A top of 222p and £1165.50 was paid among the young bulls for a Limousin off Giffordland.
Dingwall
A small selection of eight prime bullocks averaged 243.2p having sold to 256p per kg and £1548.80 for a 605kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, while heifers attained 261p for a 510kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall and £1518.75 for a 625kg Limousin cross also from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, to balance out at 238.1p.
The firm also sold 396 prime lambs to averaged 220.9p with prices peaking to 255p for a pen of 45.5kg Beltex crosses from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin or to £125 for 60kg Texel crosses from Woodside Croft, Ardersier.
The 442 feeding sheep were popular and reached a top price of £160 for a Charolais cross ewe from Kinnahaird Farm, while Lewis Livestock Producers prime and feeding sheep consignment sold to £158 for a Texel ram from 22 North Tolsta.
Castle Douglas
On Tuesday, Wallets Marts had forward 2296 prime and cast sheep, where1607 prime lambs sold to average 211.89p with an SQQ of 212.73p.
Top price of the day was £108.50 for a Texels from Messrs Clement, Borgue House and to 243.9p for Beltex lambs from Messrs Paterson, Mossnae, while cast sheep sold to £175 for Beltex ewes from Messrs Paterson, Mossna.
Wigton
Hopes Auctioneers' weekly primestock sale witnessed heifers attain a top of 279.5pkg for a 546kg British Blue from JS Wilson and Son, Bowscale or to £1625.82 for a 23-month-old 588kg Limousin from Messrs Dent, Elm House.
Bullocks topped at £1773.95 and 249.5p, firstly for an 18-month-old 711kg Limousin from J Dixon and Sons, Lesson Hall.
A top price of 206.5pkg was achieved among the bulls for a 561kg British Blue for I Grainger, Kiln Close or to £1223.41 for a 20-month-old 629kg Limousin Bull from D Williamson, Seacroft.
Friesian bulls witnessed a top of 200.5pkg for a 543kg bull from Ian Grainger, Kiln Close.
On the flip side, a smaller show of 728 prime lambs were sold to £173 for a 51kg Beltex from J Dixon and Sons, Lesson Hall, Wigton, who also led the per kg trade with 50kg Beltex selling to 344p, to balance out at 236p with an SQQ of 237p.
