Carlisle
Some 1163 cattle were forward for Harrison and Hetherington's sale, where a top price of £1660 was paid for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Dearham, with heifers selling to £1580 for Limousins from Messrs Brough, Clappers, Wigton.
Aberdeen Angus heifers topped the weaned cattle at £1290 from Messrs Mitchell, Glenwood House, while bullocks sold to £1100 for a British Blue from Sleightolme Farm.
Bulls were topped at £1280 by a Simmental from Gerrard House, Wigton, and Messrs Gwynne, Castlewigg.

The 306 calves were led by a British Blue heifer calf from Turnbull Farming, Penrith, which made £480, while bull calves sold to £470 from Beyond the Moss and dairy-breds to £235 for a Friesian from RE Nash, Newton Stewart.

Trade remained buoyant at United Auctions' sale of 994 cattle which saw heifers cash in at 222.12p having peaked at 275.40p for a 414kg Limousin cross from Bughtknowes or £1560 for a 656kg Limousin cross from Meikle Finnery.
Bullocks averaged 225.82p having sold to 269.60p for a 460kg Limousin from Gaisland or £1425 for a 616kg entry of the same breed from North Woodend.
Dairy bullocks were topped at 211.00p by a 493kg Montbelairde cross from Knockeffrick and £1190 for a 568kg similar animal from Knockeffrick, to balance out at 191.93p, whilst dairy cows levelled at 127.58p having sold to 163.70p for a Holstein Friesian from Westerhill or £1290 for a Holstein cross from Bandirran.
An Aberdeen-Angus cross from Oakersdyke led the young bulls at 231.90p or £1360 for a Beef Shorthorn cross from Sornfallow, to average 220.52p, while beef cattle cashed in at 143.62p having sold to 208.50p for a Saler cross from Gateshaw and to £1790 for a Charolais from Balthayock.
The 41 rearing cattle peaked at £675 for two Limousin cross stirks from A Hope, Nether Skellyhill, Lesmahagow.

Heifers reached a top price of £1375 for a Limousin from Balluskie and to 288.1p for a similar animal from Markhill Farms, to average 222.5p.
Friesian Bullocks balanced out at 183.5p having peaked at £1130 from Highpark or 211.3p for a pen from Benston.

Limousins proved popular at Craig Wilson Marts' sale of 320 store cattle, where beef-bred cattle averaged 224p having sold to £1440 for two bullocks from H Young, Waulkmill or to 260p for bullocks from Messrs Scott, Garchew, Bargrennan.
Some 58 dairy-bred cattle sold to £940 for black and white bullocks from R and D Wilson, High Barness, Wigtown and to 200p for Fleckvieh bullocks from Messrs Ferguson, Mains of Penninghame, to balance out at 181p.
Heifers were topped by Limousins from P Baillie, Camrie Farm, at £1530 and 243.2p, to level at 208.9p.

A flying trade at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of 323 store cattle, young bulls and breeding cattle, saw bullocks average 223p having sold to 260.7p for three 303kg Limousin from Bogie Street, Huntly or to £1670 for a 758kg Charolais cross from Diamonds, Deerness.
Heifers levelled at 228p with a top of 263.2p for three 418kg Limousin crosses from South Law, New Pitsligo and £1330 for a 530kg Simmental cross from Myres Widewall, South Ronaldsay and bulls sold to 207.7p and £1155 for a 556kg Simmental cross from West Maldron, Torphins.
Breeding cattle sold to £1800 for a Salers cross with Charolais cross bull calf from Sandlodge Farm House, Sandwick, while cows with heifer calves peaked at £1480 for a Simmental cross with Simmental cross calf from Towerhill, St Ola.
In-calf heifers were topped at £1640 for a Simmental cross from Towerhill.

A mixed show of cattle at Lawrie and Symington's sale of 604 store and breeding cattle, saw bullocks sell to £1460 for a 624kg Charolais from Netherton or to 264.6p for a 446kg for another of the same breed from Linnhead, to balance out at 223.8p.
Heifers peaked at £1450 for a 566kg Limousin from Gillbank and to 298p for a 406kg British Blue from Laigh Park (Blairnavaid), to level at 218p, while dairy bullocks reached a top of £1130 for a 584kg British Friesian from the Boag, to cash in at 178p.
The dispersal of cows with calves from Overburns, sold to £3000 for a Aberdeen-Angus cross cow with British Blue cross heifer calf at foot, while the autumn calving cows being dispersed from Broomhill sold to £1900 for an in-calf Aberdeen-Angus cross cow.
