BRITISH FOOD Fortnight hopes to give something back to the nation's farmers for their tireless efforts in keeping the nation fed during the pandemic.
The annual event – taking place between September 18 and October 3 – celebrates the best of British food and drink, and after a very different event last year due to the pandemic, hundreds of businesses, organisations and communities have already signed up, with more joining every day.
Hundreds of activities are taking place in communities over the course of the fortnight, including foodie lessons and special menus in hundreds of schools, alongside themed menus in local pubs and restaurants.
Love British Food founder Alexia Robinson said: “British Food Fortnight is the focal point of Love British Food’s activities and following this challenging year, we are all determined to make this year’s event the biggest and most successful yet.
“It’s imperative that we get the word out now," she continued. "From pubs to public sector institutions, staff will need time to prepare stock, develop menus and build relationships – the time to start planning is now. Discussions are ongoing with Government, major supermarket chains and countless other organisations.
“British farmers and producers have worked tirelessly during the pandemic to help keep the country moving - now it’s our turn to support them.”
