A NEW webpage dedicated to helping farmers and crofters seek support for their mental wellbeing has been launched by NFU Scotland.
NFUS 'Here For You’ will signpost members to organisations such as RSABI, Samaritans and Scottish Association for Mental Health, where they can find help and support
There has been recognition by the union that many farmers and crofters are under increasing pressure and often don’t stop and take time to think about themselves. There is also still a stigma which exists around talking openly about how people are feeling, especially amongst young men.
Whether looking for themselves, or someone they know, the #NFUSHereForYou webpage can quickly point people in the right direction. All members are encouraged to explore the resources available by visiting https://www.nfus.org.uk/policy/campaigns/nfushereforyou.aspx
NFU Scotland vice president, Charlie Adam, commented: “Within the industry we are becoming more aware of the challenges some face. Please don’t struggle alone. There is help and support out there, look out for your neighbours and colleagues, and point them in the direction of our #NFUSHereForYou webpage.
“We are one big community within NFUS and it is vital that we support one another. Don’t forget that your regional teams are there for you, and if you know of any other organisations that offer assistance please let us know.”
