NOMINATIONS are being sought for the 2020 recipient of one of the sheep industry’s most prestigious accolades – The Silver Salver.
This National Sheep Association Scotland award is presented annually at the ScotSheep or HighlandSheep events to an individual or organisation for their outstanding contribution to the sheep industry.
NSA Scotland chairman Jen Craig said: “This award demonstrates the appreciation NSA Scotland has for its hard-working members and the exceptional people who make up our sheep farming sector. This is a small step towards thanking those who have had lifetime commitments to further advance the Scottish sheep industry who may not have had the recognition they deserve.”
Past winners include Jimmy Warnock of Sandilands), Mamie Paterson of Upper Auchenlay, the BBC Lambing Live production team and Joyce Campbell of Armadale.
Last year's winner was Lochearnhead's Colin MacGregor, a former Scottish shearing champion, who worked as the shearing manager for British Wool for 20 years, and was described as an 'ambassador for the industry'.
If you are a member of the NSA and wish to nominate a worthy recipient, contact Scottish region coordinator Grace Reid by mobile 07787142858 or by email grace@nationalsheep.org.uk
