MEMBERS OF the Scottish Organic Producers Association have been invited to a gathering on February 6, where they will have a chance to meet Scotland's Minister For Rural Affairs and the Environment, Mairi Gourgeon.

The event, at The Finavon Hotel near Forfar, involves a light evening meal and networking with fellow organic producers and processors from the Tayside, Angus and Kincardineshire area, where Ms Gougeon is MSP for Angus North and Mearns.

Attendance is free for SOPA members – but they must register their interest at the EventBrite page via this link https://bit.ly/2tQTgxD

SOPA policy manager Debs Roberts said: “We are pleased to have Mairi Gougeon attending our members event, and we think it will be a useful opportunity for SOPA members to discuss the current challenges facing the organic industry in Scotland, especially the lack of an AECS Organic Conversion application window this year.

“Events like this allow us to catch up with members face to face and gives them the chance to ask questions or flag up any problems, which we can help solve.”
