Arla has announced an increase in it’s June milk price of 1.15p per litre. This takes its standard litre price to 28.58p.
Arla Foods’ board director, Johnnie Russell, said this week: “I am confident that this milk price increase will be welcomed by our farmer owners who have faced difficulties through unforeseen, extreme conditions.
“The increase has been possible due to the strengthening of the markets. Although weather conditions are now improving, the long cold spring in some areas reduced output and left commodity markets short of product.
“This, coupled with increased exports, especially European demand, had pushed prices higher particularly for cheese and butter, while SMP prices have been stronger than expected.”
