ANGUS farming firm RH Brunton has been named as Scotland’s ‘Grower of the Year’ by potato supplier Branston.

Branston commercial director Richard Clark said: “RH Brunton are great to work with – they currently supply us with more than 4500 tonnes of potatoes a year and follow our ethos of providing quality product and reducing waste wherever possible.

“They were chosen as our Scotland Grower of the Year because of their commitment and clear enthusiasm for growing potatoes – congratulations to the whole team.”

Hugh Brunton, from RH Brunton, of Cuthlie Farm, Arbroath, said: “We’ve worked with Branston for five years now and we’re really proud to be named Scotland Grower of the Year. We have a really good relationship with Branston – the staff are excellent and easy to work with and it’s great to have the security of a long term contract with them.”

Branston currently works with more than 45 potato growers in Scotland – supplying more than 80,000 tonnes of potatoes from the Perthshire site to supermarkets across Scotland and England for the likes of Tesco and Booker. With demand growing, the supplier is calling for more growers to work with them.

Mr Clark continued: “Our sales are increasing, so we welcome contact from local farms across Scotland looking to supply our Perthshire site with good quality potatoes.”
