SHOWING their paces at last week’s Scotgrass event was Massey Ferguson’s MF 7700 S series, which has just had three new models added to it.
These included a new 190hp, MF 7719 S flagship coming into the top of the mid-power range. All are powered by the latest AGCO Power engines that meet demanding Stage V emission standard, using a straightforward, completely maintenance-free system.
The three new models – which were first unveiled at the SIMA show in Paris in February – are the 165hp, MF 7716 S, 180hp MF 7718 S and the completely new 190hp MF 7719 S. Engine boost provides an additional 20-30hp, depending on the model.
Along with its squeaky-clean engine, the MF 7700 S tractors will, later this year, get the facility to fit 1.95m diameter rear tyres, the ECO Dyna-6 transmission and higher payload capacities.
Topping the range, the MF 7719 S gets the Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission as standard. Its 190 hp nominal rating uses Engine Power Management (EPM) to provide a useful 30hp boost to meet pto and hydraulic demands and for transport. The EPM system gives a 20hp boost on the MF 7716 S and MF 7718 S
In common with the other new MF 7700 S tractors, it can be specified with up to 1.95m diameter, 20.8 R42 tyres for improved traction with low ground pressure.
All have a six-cylinder, 6.6 litre engines and meet the Stage V emission regulations using integrated diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR), along with the addition of a soot catalyst (SC). These are all combined in the same exhaust unit, which has automatic and passive regeneration, and does not compromise visibility from the cab – in fact, the exhaust is actually slimmer than its predecessor.
There is a new 600-hour engine service interval and maintenance-free hydraulic valve clearance adjustment, which automatically sets the tappets.
The Dyna-6 semi-powershift transmission – optional on the MF 7716 S and MF 7718 S – will have the new Super ECO facility to improve economy from June. This saves fuel by attaining the maximum 40 km/hr road speed at 1500 rpm and 50 km/hr at 1800 rpm – which is up to 17 % less than the outgoing models.
A MF ‘Care’ package as standard and this can include up to a five year/2400-hour warranty extension.
Massey Ferguson’s straightforward Datatronic 5 ISOBUS compatible terminal is standard on the higher spec’ ‘Exclusive’ tractors, allowing comprehensive tractor and implement control. MF says the clear and concise nine-inch touch screen is as easy to use as any tablet or smartphone and is an option on the ‘Efficient’ versions!
This terminal pairs with the Multipad joystick and Datatronic 5 manages full precision farming solutions, including MF Auto Guide, plus you can choose options such as Section Control for the likes of sprayers etc.
