New Holland, a prominent name in agricultural machinery, has chosen Agritechnica 2023 as the platform to introduce a slew of updates for its CR Twin Rotor combines, along with a refreshed look for both CX straw walker and CR Twin Rotor models.

Additionally, a sneak peek into forthcoming innovations for the CR range, including a novel weed seed management feature, was also showcased. The 2025 CR and CX combine ranges exhibit a distinctive identity with their new 'Inspired by Nature' panel styling and decals, aligning them with the broader range of New Holland farm equipment.

The updates for the 2025 model year CR Twin Rotor and CX combines encompass several enhancements aimed at improving operator comfort, safety, and performance. A new leather-upholstered ventilated seat offers superior support along with cooling and heating functions. The addition of a DAB+ radio extends entertainment options during long working hours. Notably, a new electrically remotely-foldable right-hand rear-view mirror, previously available on CX models, has now been incorporated into the CR range, enhancing safety and minimising collision risks. Moreover, up to three factory-installed cameras provide diverse views, selectable via the in-cab terminal screen, further boosting safety and productivity.

One notable addition to the CR7.90 model is the availability of tracks, offering improved flotation, traction, and transport capabilities. These tracks come equipped with SmartTrax units that incorporate Flex technology, enhancing the grip and reducing ground pressure by 57% compared to equivalent tyres. Furthermore, for those facing demanding harvest conditions requiring optimal weight distribution, new options for the front axle include VF (very high flexion) dual wheels/tyres and LSW (low sidewall technology) wide flotation units.

Dynamic Flow Control™, a technology that allows on-the-go adjustments of rotor vane positions to adapt to changing crop conditions, has been extended to the CR7.80, CR7.90, and CR8.80 models. This innovation can significantly boost throughput and productivity by up to 20%, building on its successful deployment in wider CR models.

Internally, New Holland CR combines benefits from extended capabilities for IntelliSense automated combine management technology. The system, which optimises threshing, separation, and cleaning shoe settings based on the operator's input, now includes settings for oats and sorghum/millet/milo in addition to previously supported crops. NutriSense™, an award-winning near-infrared analysis technology, comes factory-fitted in new models and provides invaluable insights into crop nutrients and moisture levels.

As part of its commitment to innovation, New Holland is previewing several technology developments planned for 2025 model year CR combines at Agritechnica. This includes the introduction of PLM Intelligence, featuring an upgraded IntelliView 12 touchscreen terminal and advanced guidance capabilities.

A standout preview is an innovative weed control management feature for CR combines with 559mm (22in) rotors, developed by Australian firm Seed Terminator. This technology employs multi-stage hammer mills to pulverise weed seeds and chaff, preventing their germination upon reaching the ground, and ultimately reducing weed burdens in subsequent crops. The adjustable aggressivity of this system sets it apart from existing solutions.
