RECORD entries have been taken for the Scottish National Fat Stock Club’s LiveScot event staged in association with Lawrie and Symington, on Friday and Saturday – November 22 and 23 – at Lanark Auction Market.
Entries include 166 pedigree calves and 102 pedigree lambs which will be paraded on the Friday evening, with the show on the Saturday featuring 99 open beef cattle, 16 butchers’ cattle, 50 commercial calves, and 123 pairs of sheep.
Once again the club is focusing on the next generation by hosting this year’s SAYFC National Sheep Dressing Competition, along with the Lanarkshire Young Farmers’ Calf Rally, which will host their show following the pedigree calves on the Friday evening.
All 46 calves will be sold on the Saturday.
The Club also looking to the future with competitions for young handlers.
Cattle young handlers can compete on the Friday evening with the competition for young sheep handlers being staged on the Saturday. Competitors for both sections can enter right up until the day of the event.
Entries for the Native Pony Winter Fair competition and the show of dairy cattle, staged on the Saturday, will be taken up until Monday, November 11.
“LiveScot has so much to offer when the event attracts the highest quality of livestock,” said Scottish National Fat Stock Club chairman Alister Vance.
“I hope we can continue to encourage the next generation of young farmers and producers to continue showcasing the very best of farming.
“We are again indebted to our sponsors as the show would not be possible without their financial commitments which we gratefully appreciate,” said Mr Vance.
