With more than £25,000 available in prize funds – the highest value of any such event in the country – the dairy cattle classes acts as a draw for herds from across the UK and Ireland, with entries open until October 28, 2022, ensuring that only the best will come.
In addition to the traditional Ayrshire, Red and Whites, Holstein and Jersey categories, the dairy cattle show programme will also feature an ‘Any other dairy breeds’ class, welcoming exhibitors of in-milk heifers and cows from the likes of Brown Swiss, British Friesian and Dairy Shorthorn varieties.
Judging of the dairy classes will culminate with the SuperHeifer and SuperCow awards, each coming with a £1000 prize pot for eligible cattle. Responsible for this year’s judging is Niels Erik Haahr, one of the top Holstein breeders, in Denmark, who works with cattle in Germany and Scandinavia, as well as investing in high-quality genetics from across the world.
