INSPIRED by the wonders of the universe and the vision of land artist, cultural theorist and landscape designer Charles Jencks (1939-2019), Crawick Multiverse, near Sanquhar, on the border of Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire, is a popular four-star visitor attraction and a stunning outdoor venue.

It’s set to be an eventful summer at Crawick Multiverse, a former open cast coal mine, with an exciting programme of events scheduled to take place in the Sun Amphitheatre from May through to September.

This unique venue boasts a spectacular landscape of striking landforms, each one representing cosmological or astronomical features and theories. The site also features lagoons and large open spaces – making it the perfect place for family days out, motorhome adventures, dog walks, picnics, group outings, school trips, festivals and events.


What’s On in 2024:

May 26: Cirqulation – professional modern-day circus artists will perform as part of Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival’s 45th Anniversary Celebrations

June 20: Summer Solstice Wellbeing Day – a Solstice Pass will provide access to the site from 4am for a sunrise tour, followed by a wellbeing morning with yoga, Tai Chi and Qigong. From lunchtime, visitors will enjoy music, dance and storytelling around the Sun Amphitheatre

July 16: The Adventures of Dr Dolittle – an early evening, family-friendly outdoor theatre performance by Illyria

August 31 and September 1: Music at the Multiverse – the popular two-day music festival will return in 2024 with an amazing line-up, expanded food village, new campsite, motorhome parking, and coach travel to and from the festival. For anyone who would like to organise their own event at Crawick Multiverse, the site is also available for private hire.

Crawick Multiverse is open daily from March to November. Day and Annual Passes can be purchased online in advance or at The Coalface on arrival. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic, visit local eateries, or to purchase snacks and refreshments at The Coalface.
