FOR LESLEY Vaughan, the owner of the Bridal Studio Dollar in Clackmannanshire, it’s all about personal service and make brides-to-be feel relaxed and comfortable.
Lesley works solo, providing a one-to-one private consultation that lasts two hours, giving the client plenty of time to discuss her needs and desires. Her spacious studio features a large fitting room with a large mirror, statement high-back chair, carpeting throughout, choice of petticoat styles and also shoe. The studio, both interior and exterior, has been decorated recently.

Providing a pleasant environment for browsing and fitting is crucial, she believes. With around 150 styles in a wide range of styles to suit all tastes and age groups currently in stock, Lesley is an expert when it comes to offering advice. A bride may have spotted her dream wedding dress in a magazine but when she tries it on it’s just not right for her, or isn’t how she imagined it.
Her experience allows Lesley to encourage a client to try a completely different style to what they had in mind and most will try on several gowns before finding “the one”. Styles, of course, come in and out of fashion but Lesley works closely with Grant Jones, the Ronald Joyce representative for Scotland, who brings new collections for her to view.
CLASSIC GOWNS will never go out of fashion
With Covid restrictions preventing Lesley from attending bridal shows, working with Grant has helped her see new collections without having to look at them in a brochure. She points out that Scottish brides’ tastes can vary to the rest of the county and it’s also important to see a dress to get a true impression of its detail and quality of craftsmanship. Timeless, classic gowns always look amazing, she points out – and never go out of fashion.
