A British horse rider who died in a fall while competing at Bicton Arena suffered a fatal bleed on the brain, an Exeter inquest was told.

Georgie Campbell was competing in a riding event at the Bicton International Horse Trials at the end of last month.  

The Exeter coroner Alison Longhorn told the hearing the 36-year-old fell from her horse and suffered a fatal injury. She died at the scene.

She said: "There are no suspicious circumstances. The cause of death was a basal subarachnoid haemorrhage."

Georgie, from Kent, had competed in more than 200 events including Badminton and Burghley and was riding Global Quest when she fell at a fence on the cross country course.

A full inquest will be held at a later date when further investigations have been carried out by the coroner's office.
