An in-lamb Zwartbles gimmer from Carrie, Sarah and Iain Bissett of Carrah Zwartbles, Evanton, topped Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale of Zwartbles at Dingwall, when selling at £800,
Carrah Luna sold scanned with twins to Raymond Heigh of the Brookdene flock, Yorkshire.
The event, staged alongside the rare and native breeds livestock sale, saw the championship awarded to the ewe lamb Druid Temple Marnie from Laura Marwick of the Druid Temple flock. It made £350 to Mike and Amy Biglands of the Biglands flock. Second top price was £700 paid for Sammy Stewart’s in-lamb ewe, Janetstown Gaia, purchased by Andrew Bateman of the Holmepride flock.
Other breeds sold to £700 for a Blue Texel gimmer carrying twins from Invercharron, Ardgay.
A Welsh Section A mare from Glen Mor, Invergarry, made £550, with goats selling to £260 on two occasions, firstly for a Pygmy nanny goat that ran with the billy and a billy goat both from Park Terrace, Lairg.
Lambs (361) sold to £300 for a Derbyshire Gritstone from Roadside Croft, Wester Muckernich, while ewes (104) peaked at £280 for a pair of Cheviot maiden ewes from Cuilaneilan, Kinlochewe.
