Dumfries

At C and D Auctions' sale, 905 lambs sold to a top of £192 for Texels from R Jackson, Rigghead, or to 356p per kg from AJ Watret, Pendicle. Cast sheep (212) peaked at £190 for Cheviot Mules from Millantae Farms, Millantae and for Zwartbles and Blackface tups from Rigghead.

Longtown

Lambs (4152) averaged 304p per kg at the C and D Auctions' sale where Beltex topped the trade at 390p from Messrs Kennedy, Lurgan Farm, Perthshire. Top price per head was £200 paid for both Texels and Beltex from R and WD and SR Charlton, Whiteside, Haltwhistle. Cast sheep (3516) peaked at £300 for Texel ewes from Marygate Farms.

Cast cattle reached £1441 or 212p for an Aberdeen Angus from A Tullie Farming, Whitchester, Hawick.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions had forward 8378 sheep at their sale comprising of 5888 lambs and 2490 cast sheep. Lambs averaged 297.04p per kg and sold to 377p for Beltex from Groan or to £180 for Texels from Easter Ochtermuthill. Cast sheep reached £270 for Texel ewes from Grange of Connon.

Stirling (Cally)

Bullocks and heifers averaged 321.01p and 346.96p per kg respectively at the Caledonian Marts sale.

Bullocks peaked at 355p for a Limousin from A Kennedy and Sons, Seggarsdean, Haddington with the same breed selling for the top price per head of £2379 from R Colquhoun, Barochan Cross, Houston. Heifers reached 375p or £2173 for a Limousin from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty. Young bulls sold to 292p or £2094 for an Aberdeen Angus from G McFadzean, Woodhead of Mailer, Perth. Cast cattle realised 221p or £2080 for a Limousin from WI and AW Callion, Balfornought.

On Tuesday, 725 lambs averaged 298.78p selling to 359p for Beltex from G and J Davie, Harviesmailing or to £185 for Texels from F Dandie, Hatton of Carse. Cast sheep reached £191 for Texels from R McNee, Woodend.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 2737 lambs at their sale to average 293p per kg having sold to 346p for Beltex from Strathhore, Balfour, or to £171 for Texels from Kingswells Croft, Oyne. Cast sheep (1296) averaged £101.74 and reached £219.50 for a Beltex ewe from Bogiefeulach, Tornaveen.

Bullocks (18) sold to 324p for a 600kg Limousin cross from Barnyards of Badenyoucher, Cronhill and to £2332.95 for a 755kg Limousin cross from Daies, Wardhouse. Heifers (27) sold to 323p for a 655kg Limousin from West Knock Farms, Mintlaw or to £2196.40 for a Limousin cross from Ardhuncart Farms, Kildrummy.

Young bulls (36) realised 314p for an 840kg Limousin from Upper Forgie, Keith and £2872.10 for a Simmental from Cowfords Farm, New Pitsligo.

Cast cattle peaked at £2750 for a 1125kg Limousin bull from Shannas, Clola.

Darlington

Some 100 heads of prime cattle forward for Darlington Farmers Auction Mart sale saw heifers average 360p per kg having sold to 411p for a Limousin from R and I Hirst, Neasham Springs or to £2483 for a Limousin from B Walker, Birch Springs.

Bullocks averaged 340p and sold to 274p from TM and A Bellas and Son, Timpton Hill or to £2287 for a Limousin from SH Watson and Son, Low Fields Farm.

Young bulls (90) averaged 318p and realised 379p for a Limousin from J Layfield, Nackshivan and £3078 for a Limousin from JC Thwaite and Son. Lambs (1981) cashed in at 302p and peaked at 434p and £226 both from JC Simpson, Caldwell. Cast sheep (262) sold to £236.50 for Texel ewes from B Staley, West Underhurth.

St Boswells

Bullocks and heifers averaged 325p and 324p per kg respectively at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale.

Bullocks (25) reached 344p from Learielaw and £2640.40 from Wellheads. Heifers (49) sold to 366p from Bee Edge and to £1486.20 from Kersknowe. Cast cattle (31) averaged 214p and sold to 245p for cows from both Corsbie and Headshaw, Lauder and to £2091 for a cow from Kersknowe.

Lambs (2176) averaged 290.7p and realised 359p for Beltex from Sunnycroft and £174 for Texels from Hutington. Cast sheep (585) averaged £89.32 and sold to £180 for a pair of Hampshire Downs from Messrs Brand, East Fortune.

Carlisle

A Limousin cross heifer topped the Harrison and Hetherington sale at £2605.76 for Messrs Crichton, Loughrigg or to 347.5p for a 559kg Limousin cross from G Rome, Niven Hill, Gretna. Bullocks peaked at £2373.89 for a 743kg Limousin from Messrs Beaty, Langhorn, Egremont or 337.5p for Limousins from Messrs Bell, Hoddamtown, Lockerbie and Messrs Sisson, Kelbarrow, Penrith.

Young bulls (74) reached £2929.74 for a 1012kg Limousin from Messrs Ridley, Haltcliffe Farm, Wigton and 326.5p for a 629kg Limousin cross from T Mitchinson, Beck House, Carlisle. Cast cattle (293) sold to £2242 for an 871kg Limousin cow from Messrs Campbell, Strawfrank Farm and to 281.5p for a 795kg British Blue cross from DA Harrison and Co, Hill House Farm. Texels topped the lamb trade selling to £225 from Graig Goch with Beltex topping price per head selling to 500p from Cardew Hall. Cast sheep reached £410 for Texel ewes from Graig Goch.

Lanark

Lawrie and Symington sold 145 heads of cattle at their sale comprising of 55 bullocks and heifers and 90 cast cows. Limousins topped the heifers at 365p per kg and at £2363 from Brockwoodlees Farm. The same home achieved top price amongst the bullocks at 335p and £2221 for Limousins. Young bulls sold to £2406 or 315p from Kepscaith Farm. Cast cattle peaked at £1940 and 233p for Aberdeen Angus and Limousin crosses respectively both from Huntlyhill Farm. Lambs (4372) averaged 293p and sold to 346p from Lesserlinn Farm to £187 for Texels from North Garngour. Cast sheep (1902) peaked at £212 for Texel ewes from Yeldabrek Farm.

Ayr

Some 2601 sheep forward at Craig Wilson's sale saw 1861 lambs average 294p per kg, selling to a top of 352p for Beltex from W Watson, Muir Farm, Mauchline. Prices per head reached £168 for Suffolks from The Logan Family, Dalfrask Farm, Girvan. Cast sheep sold to £183 for Texel cross ewes from I Lammie, Tarff Cottage. Heifers (14) averaged 327.65p and sold to 358p for a Limousin from The Smith Family, North Boig. Cast cattle (97) peaked at £2160 for an Aberdeen Angus cow from Fardenreoch.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 1386 sheep at their sale on Tuesday where 1125 new season lambs averaged 284p per kg and sold to 306p for 46.4kg Charollais from Berryleys, Grange. Prices per head reached £160 for 58.7kg Texels from Cairnbo, Longmanhill. Cast sheep peaked at £164 for a Texel ewe from Sheep Park, Marnoch.

Dingwall

Tuesday saw 633 sheep and eight prime cattle sold at Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale where 393 new season lambs reached 310p per kg or £144 for a pen of 46.5kg Texel crosses from Inveruglas Farm, Kingussie. Cast sheep sold to £186 for a Texel cross ewe from Ord Farm, Invergordon. A bullock sold at 313p or £1705.85 for a 545kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall. Seven heifers averaged 311.5p having peaked at 325p for a 540kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm or to £182665 for a 595kg Limousin cross from the same home.

Castle Douglas

An entry of 2227 sheep forward for Wallets Marts' sale saw 1604 lambs average 300.72p per kg. Texels topped the trade at 334.1p from Messrs Grierson, Sandfield or to £174 from Messrs Fisher, Flathill. Cast sheep sold to £213 for Texel ewes from Messrs Kerr, Denty.

Kirkby Stephen

Lambs sold to £206 for a 55kg Beltex from Messrs Sayer, Musgrave House, or 442.5p for a pen of seven 40kg Beltex from Messrs Skelton, Low House Maryport, at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of 2817 head on Tuesday night. An overall average of 312.75p was achieved for 2817 lambs.

The 881 cast sheep were topped at £240 for a Texel ram from Messrs Coulthard, Bridge End Farm, Bishop Auckland, or to £202 for a pair of Beltex cross ewes from Messrs Hodgson, Green Farm, Shap.
