Statesman Magical, a ewe lamb proved the star attraction at a Zwartbles Sheep Association female sale at Carlisle, when selling for the top price of 2200gns.

Reserve champion at the pre-sale show, the lamb from Ben Stayt, Windrush, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, sold to Nicola Henderson of the Aquila flock from Touch, Stirling. Magical is the first progeny to be offered at auction out of the 2000gns Craigies Just So and is sired by Top Notch King Kong.

The same home sold Statesman Mississippi to Messrs Jones, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, for 2000gns. This ewe lamb is by the same sire and is bred from Craigies Just Ace.

The champion, Hayberries Lucy Liu, from Peter and Susan Addison, Hayberries, Mickleton, Barnard Castle, also made 2000gns when selling to Messrs Boyes, Annan. The gimmer is a daughter of Norton King of The Road and bred from Goldies Jo. She sold in lamb to Hayberries Keystone.

Issy Hartley, Pendle Valley, Lancs, sold two ewe lambs by Coverham KnockEmOut for 1200gns per head. The first, Pendle Madonna stood third in the show and was purchased by Neil Millar of the Joyfield flock from Lockerbie. She is bred from Pendle Jemima.

The second, Pendle Martini, out of Pendle Helena headed home with Messrs Pritchard, Rochester, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Another ewe lamb from the same stable made 900gns when purchased by Jethro Kimber of the Speccott flock from Okehampton. Pendle Majesty which is also sired by KnockEmOut, is bred from Pendle Highness

Selling for 950gns was Brian Gibson's Conic Lady Gaga, a gimmer daughter of Greenhill Kofi, out of Conic Hope, from Three Views, Gartocharn, Alexandria. She changed hands carrying a pair of lambs by Conic Keanu and sold down to Devon with Messrs Browne, Ashhill, Cullompton.

Mr Gibson also took 900gns for Conic Lilly, another gimmer this time by Greenhill Kildimo out of Conic Frannie. She also sold served to Keanu and carrying triplets. The buyers of this gimmer which stood fifth in her class were Messrs Bodle, Glenluce, Stranraer.

Matching that 900gns bid was Midtown Minnie, a ewe lamb by Midtown Knockout out of Dysynni Jinny. Consigned by A and H Graham, Midtown, Caerlaverock, Dumfries, she was knocked down to near neighbours, Messrs Sloan, Collin.
