A ewe lamb from William and Carole Ingram’s Logie Durno flock from Aberdeenshire, topped the Hereford High Flyers Charollais sheep sale when selling for 4000gns.
The ewe lamb is by Logie Durno Jackpot and bred from a home-bred Loanhead Talisman daughter that was a class winner at the Royal Highland in 2019 and 2022 and also produced the first prize winning ewe lamb at this year’s Highland and the Royal Welsh. She sold to Glen Baird, buying for his Aghavilly flock from Armagh.
The Ingrams also received 2900gns for a gimmer purchased by Richard Bamforth of the Lower Denby flock, Huddersfield. She is sired by the 15,000gns Wernfawr Ace and bred from a home-bred Foxhill Va Va Voom daughter that is a full sister to the 9000gns Walking Thunder. The gimmer changed hands carrying twins to Moelfryn Corker.
And, at 1600gns, Logie Durno sold another gimmer by Wernfawr Ace and out of a homebred Va Va Voom daughter. Sold carrying twins to Moelfryn Corker, she joins the Glyn Coch flock of Adrian Davies, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.
Second top price was 3200gns paid for the gimmer, Pembroke Bling Bling from David Lewis, Narberth, Pembrokeshire. By Knockin Attitude and out of a Sant Andras female by Castellau Ulysses, she is a full ET-bred sister to the £9000 Pembroke Bulletproof. She sold scanned for twins to Foxhill Benedict, to the Hunter family buying for their Skelton Whin flock, Hunmanby, North Yorkshire.
Mr Lewis also took 2000gns for Pembroke Black Magic, a Foxhill Va Va Voom-sired gimmer out of an Arbyrn female purchased at the High Flyers sale in 2021 for 3400gns. A full sister to the £5500 Pembroke Benchmark and scanned for twins to Boyo Vancouver, the hammer fell to Paul Curran of the Brecon-based Wernfawr flock.
At the same price, Arwyn Thomas, Whitland, Carmarthenshire, sold an Arbryn Attila-sired gimmer out of a home-bred Brettles Sherman ewe. Reserve champion at Brecon Show, she sold due to Arbryn Celt and was the pick of ML and COM Pugh, Clifford, Herefordshire.
Another from the Ingram pen then sold for 1600gns, this time Logie Durno 23ZNN49203, another by Wernfawr Ace and out of a homebred Va Va Voom daughter. Sold carrying twins to Moelfryn Corker, she joins the Glyn Coch flock of Adrian Davies, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.
Meanwhile at 1500gns was another from Arwyn Thomas, in the form of Arbryn 23WRF00987. Again, by Atilla and this time out of an Artnagullion Turbo daughter, she was a class winner at Pembrokeshire Show as a ewe lamb. AI’d to Arbryn Chief, this one was the pick of previous buyer Messrs Pugh, Clifford.
