Blackface rams sold at Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale peaked at £4000 on two occasions for shearlings from A and J Nairn, Clashnoir, Glenlivet and the W Stewart, Bomakelloch, Drummuir.

The Bomakelloch ram, by a £5000 Burncastle, sold to A Smith, Wester Crosswoodhill, while Clashnoir sold their £4000 shearling to Messrs Cameron, Woodhall.

Clashnoir also produced the pre-sale champion, judged by Stacey Tinney, Glenavon Estate, which later sold for £1200, while the reserve, a ram lamb from L Smith, Mill of Towie, made £800.

Averages were on a par with last year with 180 cashing in at £605.44 against £606.47 in 2023.

The sale of 2500 Blackface and cross females hit a top of £400 for a pair of Blackface gimmers from Messrs Smith, Mill of Towie, who also topped the ewe lambs selling to £260. Ewes peaked at £140 twice from Newton of Crathie, Ballater and Kilmaluah House, Duntulm.
