A Northern Ireland-bred shearling ram led the trade at the Beltex Society’s second sale at Carlisle, when selling at 2500gns.

Vicky’s Jacob from J Ferguson, Comber, Co Down, is a son of Belvoir View Diamond Flame and out of a home-bred ewe by Woodies Cookie Monster. The successful purchasers were D Cadzow and Co., Duncrahill, Pencaitland, Tranent.

Two rams sold at 2000gns to include the pen leader from Anne Story’s Borderesk flock, Longtown, purchased by J Halliday and Sons, Lockerbie. Her two-shear ram, Borderesk Hooray Henry, is sired by Ardstewart Cheeky Charlie and bred from Borderesk Drama Queen.

Later, Sue Wilkinson, Richmond took the same money for the shearling ram, Smart Ass Just Class, bred by DE Owen. A son of Ainstable Factotum, bred from Aviemore Creamola, he was knocked down to JJ and E Thomlinson, Wigton.

The top priced gimmer also made 2000gns selling to Finn Christie, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. This was Pager June, an Ardstewart Fred Flintstone daughter out of Hackney Guccy, from Paul Tippetts and Gerwyn Jones, Lodge Hill, Shifnal, Shropshire.

The same partnership took 1600gns for Hackney Jaguar, a shearling ram by Fred Flintstone, out of Hackney Goddess, which sold to G and W Halliday, Crawthat Farm, Waterbeck, Lockerbie.

Neil Harvey’s shearling ram, Blackadder Jericho from Duns also made 1600gns. He is sired by Curwen Hill George, bred from Blackadder Gigi, and headed back down to Duns with the Dixon Bros, West Newton.
