A traditional-type Bluefaced Leicester shearling ram from Alan McClymont, Kirkstead, Yarrow, sold for the top price of £2800 at a joint sale of Blues and North Country Cheviot rams at Longtown.
The tup was purchased by JR Weir, Elva Plain, Cockermouth. Others from Kirkstead sold at £2000 to JC Hewitt, Crosby Ravensworth and £1800 twice to Stewart McIntosh, Borthwickshiels.
Bluefaced Leicesters averaged £991, up £388 on the year with ram lambs at £503.
North Country Cheviots peaked at £1900 for a shearling from Scott Davies, North Synton, Ashkirk, purchased by KO Stones, Nun Cote Nook, Marrick.
Roderick Runciman, Allanshaws, Galashiels, hit a top of £1400 for a ram that sold to MJ Alpe and Sons, New Laund, with others from the pen selling at £1100 and £1000.
The sale of 110 park and hill-type shearling and two-shear rams averaged £583, up £209 on the year for a similar number sold.
Unregistered Cheviot rams, including black rams averaged £400 and were topped at £600 from West Deloraine.
