Kerr Jarvie’s Duncryne flock continued on its winning ways at the Solway and Tyne Texel Club sale at Carlisle, producing two out of seven highest priced ram lambs to include the sale leader at 3000gns.

Mr Jarvie who has already sold lambs privately to £40,000 and another at 22,000gns from his Braco-based flock, topped the trade with Dyncryne Hawkayethenoo.

Third in his class at the pre-sale show, he is by Hexel Geronimo and bred from a home-bred ewe by Milnbank Brooklyn. Full brother to three lambs that made four figures, he sold to Messrs Thompson, Penrith.

Mr Jarvie’s No 2 lamb, Duncryne Hitman, also by Geronimo, made 2000gns selling to Messrs Wilson, Penrith. The dam, by Knock Bantastic, has produced sons to 6500gns, 6000gns and 3000gns.

Second top price was 2600gns paid for the second prize ram lamb from Kenny Pratt, Peterculter. Hilltop Headbanger, a son of Auldhouseburn Gazza, bred from a ewe by Sportsmans Chieftain, was bought by Messrs Ingram, Keith.

Just behind, on 2500gns, Keith and Andrew Campbell, Overburns, Biggar, sold Overburns High Tide to Messrs Phillips, Kimbolton, Herefordshire, who get for their money a son of Ettrick Grey Goose.

The dam is by Sportsmans Dirty Harry.

Young Ruaridh and Isla Graham, Craigdarroch, Sanquhar, sold the top priced shearling at 2200gns. Craigdarroch Giant was bought by Richard Priestley, Brampton, and is a son of Mellor Vale Deja Vu.

Another two ram lambs sold for 2000gns.

First was Garngour Happy Ending, a son Midlock Flockstar from Alan Clark, North Garngour, Lesmahagow. He was knocked down to Northumberland College, Newcastle.

Later, Vallum Horsepower from local breeders, Messrs Hewson, Burgh by Sands, sold in a three-way split to John and Archie MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth; Gordon and David Gray, Ettrick, Selkirk and Andrew Clark, Blackhills, Carluke.

Horsepwer is a son of Wester Moy Diego.

Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock, Perth, produced the lead priced female at 1000gns.

His gimmer which stood first in her class, is sired by Stump Cross Foreman and sold to Messrs Sykes, Cartworth.
