Scottish flockmasters made their mark at a two-day multi-breed sale of rams at Bentham, producing the lead priced lots in the Suffolk and Texel sections.
Leading the Suffolk trade at £2000 was a shearling from Doug Laing of the Oxmuir flock, Greenlaw, Duns, purchased by CA Foster, Bolton Abbey. Mr Laing also sold Suffolks at £1700 and £1600 to average £1362.50 for eight.
Texels reached £1900 from Ted Fox, St Johns Kirk, Thankerton, while the first prize shearling from Gordon and David Gray, Ettrick, Selkirk, madeg £1800.
Two-shear Texels reached £700 from A Hoggarth, Linglie, Selkirk.

Jonathan Wales, Thackwood, Carlisle and Steve Buckley, Buxton, sold the joint top priced cross-bred rams at £1000 each, while Beltex crosses from Stuart Robson, Galashiels reached a high of £800.
Bluefaced Leicesters sold on the second day produced the best trade, selling to £5500 for a lamb from J Huddleston, Ravenscar, purchased by HR Hayton, Great Asby, while shearlings peaked at £5200 from WA and A Booth’s Smearcett flock from Feizor, Lancs.
Smearsett also produced the pre-sale champion, a shearling that sold for £3800. Other Blue lambs reached £2500 from W and D Lawson, Gragareth. Blue shearling and ram lambs averaged £1019 and £767 respectively.
