Gordon and David Gray, Ettrick, Selkirk, had a cracking day at Kelso Ram Sales, having sold the lead price Texel at £35,000 with a further £18,000 and £7000 high flyers from the flock.

Both the top two prices are sired by Sadlehead Fury, a tup bought out of Lanark for 1000gns, with the sale leader being bred from a Midcombe Brigadier daughter. Taking this boy home was Paul Slater, Whiteley Hey family farm in Macclesfield.

The £18,000 shearling tup sold down to Wales with Michael James, of the Duhonw, Neuadd-Blaenduhonw Maesmynis Builth Well, being bred from a Claybury Dunkirk sired-ewe.

Steven Renwick, Glenrath of the Craig Douglas flock, sold the next dearest Texel at £13,000 to Ted Fox, College Texels, Symington, Lanarkshire, and Jonathan Watson, Bowsden Moor Berwick-Upon-Tweed. This was the first crop of sons from the 52,000gns Midlock Express tup and out of a Sportsmans Cannonball daughter.

Texels from Harehead Farms, Cranshaws, reached £10,000 for Professor Penny, when selling down in a two way split to with Messrs Watkins, Hay-On-Wye, Herefordshire, and Jim and Nicki Hartwright of Whitehart Texels, Worcestershire. This boy is sired by Mitchellhill Dynamo and bred from a Blackadder sired-dam.

Last to achieve five figures among the Texels was a £10,000 Strathbogie shearling tup from Jim Innes, Dunscroft, Huntly. Robert Rennie, Attonburn, Kelso, got for his money an Ettrick Cocky Bob son.

Ian Hunter, Dalchirla, and Archie and John MacGregor, Allanfauld, teamed up to buy a £9500 Scrogtonhead shearling from Peter Gray and family, Scrogtonhead flock, from Galston, Ayrshire. A son of Midlock Flockstar, and out of Knock Brutus sired-ewe.
