Derg Hercules, a late January-born ram lamb secured the lead price of 10,000gns at the Spotlight sale of Blue Texels and Dutch Spotted sheep at Carlisle.
The sale which attracted an entry of 99 head and averaged £1131.66, was topped by the lead entry from Samantha Allen and Allan Shortt’s Northern Ireland-based Dutch Spotted flock. Hercules is sired by Coose Gareth which was imported from Eire, bred from Milltown Flossie, a 3500gns purchase by Drumhirk Decider and sold to Callum Dodd of the Hazelberry flock from Tundergarth, Dumfries.
Hazelberry also purchased the second top priced Dutch Spotted at 2000gns – Boyo Go Girl, an ET-bred gimmer from Henry Jewitt, Barnard Castle. Flushed as a ewe lamb, she is bred from Tiptop Fairy Glamour and sired by Carlaustan Ego.

Just behind, on 1700gns, Tom and Louise Nash, Wiston, Haverfordwest, took 1700gns from Messrs Comber, Llandovery, for the gimmer Merryboro Getinthegroove. Her pedigree features Merryboro Ethel and the ET sire Merryboro Flo Rida
Blue Texels sold to 1200gns for Manor House Haunt Damm, an ET-bred gimmer from Henry Jewitt, Barnard Castle. Bred by G Hoggard, she is bred from the imported Sunnybank Fantasy, sired Boyo Elite and headed home with Messrs Jessop and Sons, The Moorlands, Coleorton, Coalville, Leics.
