A ram lamb from Jimmy Douglas' Cairness flock from Fraserburgh, secured the lead price of 6500gns at the Northern Counties Suffolk show and sale at Carlisle.
The lamb, a son of Cairness Liam – a Glenagh Gregan son that has bred sons to 90,000gns – is bred from a ewe by Cairness A Star. He sold to Gordon Troup of the Whitestone flock from Sauchen, Inverurie.
Second top price was 5500gns paid for the second prize shearling from Anthony Glaves' Bompton flock from Scarborough purchased by Robinson and Son Ltd, Grimsby, South Humberside. Bred from a New Zealand line, this tup is out of a home-bred ewe by Savernake Kiwi, and sired by Richhill Real McCoy.

Hazel Martindale's Landale flock from Echlefechan, Lockerbie, sold to 2800gns for a ram lamb by Cadgerford Artful Dodger bred from a ewe by Dol-llys Rebel. The buyer was Tom Sands, Abernyte, Perth.
Just behind, on 2500gns, the reserve overall champion and a member of the first prize pair from Jim and Jenni Cannon, Redbrae, Wigtown, was purchased by Messrs Riley, Carnforth. He is the same way bred as Redbrae lamb sold privately for £10,000 being sired by Forkins Samson and out of a ewe by Limestone Legacy.
James Wallace's Claycrop flock from Kirkinner, Wigtownshire, continued on its winning ways following a bumper trade at Lanark, taking 2200gns for his male champion and supreme overall and 2000gns for another lamb.
The pre-sale champion, purchased by Jim Young, Muirton, Alford, is bred from a home-bred ewe by Castleisle Cobra and sired by Ballynacannon Iron Mike.
The other Claycrop lamb sold down to Cornwall with Messrs Monk, Truro. His pedigree features a Limestone ewe by Forkins McCoy and sired by Sportsmans Masterplan.
In an all Aberdeenshire transaction, Stuart and Wendy Hunter, West Cairnhill, Insch, went to 2200gns for fourth prize lamb at the pre-sale show from John Gibb's Cairnton flock, Fraserburgh. He is sired by Jalex Power House son, Cairness Cooper and bred from a full sister of the 75,000gns Cairnton Chaos.
Three other rams sold at 2000gns including two lambs from Helen Goldie and son Michael's Harpercroft flock from Kilmarnock. The first, a son of Pyeston Phoenix, bred from a Knockem ewe by Drimmie Knockout, headed home with John Christie, West Carse, Stirling.
The second, bred from a home-bred ewe by Strathbogie 24 Carat and sired by Claycrop Cassius, was knocked down to J and J Farming, Morpeth.
The first prize shearling ram also made 2000gns for John Christie. This was Westcarse Boy Wonder, a son of Muirton Double Diamond bred from the same family as Scottish National champion and the first prize ewe at the Royal Highland in June
Gimmers sold to 1600gns for the female champion, a Strathbogie Top Notch daughter from C Whitticase and Son's Glanmarton flock, Oswestry, Shropshire. She is bred from a Lavenham ewe by Irongray Black Magic and headed home with Paul Delves, Powys.
