The inaugural show and sale of pedigree Dorsets at Lawrie and Symington’s Lanark auction mart, saw 39 head sell to a top of 700gns to average £268.42.

Topping the sale was Derbyshire breeder, Sam Drivers’ shearling ram, Sandy Lane Fargo purchased by A McKerral, Woodbank, Kilmarnock. Having stood champion in the pre-sale show he is sired by Ballytaggart Echo and out of a home-bred dam by Kildowney Zambezi.

The same home also sold the lead priced female at 450gns. This was the female champion, a gimmer sired by Downkillybegs Enhancer with her dam being sired by Ballytaggart Zoro. She was purchased online and heads to Campbeltown with S Herraty, High Ranachan.

The second prize ram lamb from I and G Farmer’s Cowden flock from Balbedie, Lochgelly, made 500gns when purchased by the Bathgate family Castleton, Gorebridge. Cowden Gatsby, is by Lanamuir Edward and out Beinn Lair Cocoban by Stobilee Big Show.

Stobilee Grandfather’s Rights, a ram lamb from Alistair Morton, Stobilee, Lanark, achieved 480gns selling to WA Kendall, Back Hareshaw, Drumclog.
