Females were the pick of the trade at the Dutch Spotted Society’s Summer Selection show sale at Worcester, when Wedderburn Golden Girl, a gimmer from Jonathan and Janet Corbett, Newent, Glos, sold for 2500gns.

Sired by Glencoy Chance and out of the Scottish-bred Lochlad Conker, by an imported ram, she sold to Richard and Jade Bett, Louth, Lincolnshire, for their Yarburgh flock.

Wedderburn also sold two gimmers at 2200gns. First was Wedderburn Green Goddess, a Merryboro Fastandfurious daughter out of a dam by Glencoy Chance. She caught the eye of Dave Roberts, buying for the Boyo flock, Shrewsbury.

The other at this money was Wedderburn Goldie, another by Fastandfurious but bred from the imported dam Candy Floss. The buyer was WE Thompson, Yeovil, Somerset.

The long trip south from Moffat proved fruitful for Derek Steen, when he took 2400gns for Coxhill Garnet, a gimmer by Wedderburn Fool’s Gold bred from a dam by another imported sire. She sold to Lee Martin, Dorchester, Dorset.

Matching that 2400gns price was the ewe lamb, Ty-Gwyn Haze, the pre-sale champion from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire-based Brian Davies. By the imported sire Dutch Magic Man and bred from a dam by Merryboro Cracker, she found a new home with Ben Parker, Minehead, Somerset.

Averages: Nine shearling rams £688.33; 10 ram lambs £792.75; seven aged ewes £810.00; 27 gimmers £1357.22; 20 ewe lambs £908.25.
