A new female breed record of 14,500gns was achieved at the Classy Lassies sale of crossing Bluefaced Leicester females at Carlisle on Monday.
The record breaker stood reserve champion in the pre-sale show, being a ewe hogg from Messrs Lord, Hewgill, West Dowgill, Kirkby Stephen. Backed by home-bred genetics this one is sired by Hewgill M22, out of Hewgill P64, and sold to Robbie Hallam, Settle, North Yorkshire.
The judge, Shaun Procter of the Spurrigg flock, awarded his champion to the first prized ewe hogg from Jack Buckle, Buckles, Barras, Kirkby Stephen.
This March born girl is a daughter of Midlock Commander and bred from a home-bred dam. This one was sold to Graeme Jackson, High Bentham, Lancaster.

The next best at 4000gns was a Macqueston ewe hogg from Alec and Anders Brown, Thornhill, Dumfries. A daughter of Hewgill R2, she is out of a home-bred gimmer and found a new home with Jimmy and Graeme Sinclair, Crookston, Heriot, Mid Lothian.
