A ewe lamb from Alan Miller’s Lurg flock from Midmar, Aberdeenshire, secured the overall championship and the top price of 6000gns at a Beltex show and sale at Carlisle.
The event which included the dispersal of Alan Munro’s Loandhu flock from Fearn and a production sale of gimmers from Wade and Alison McCrabbe, Ardstewart, was led by Lurg Juicy Lucy ET. Full sister to the 3000gns Lurg Juicy sold earlier in the year, Juicy Lucy is the result of a flush from the Woodhow Dakota daughter, Kingledores Felicity ET, and sired by the 16,000gns Woodies Explosive. First at the Scottish National and second at the Royal Highland, she was knocked down to Victoria and Gillian Bowring, buying for their Windmill flock from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
The same buyers went to 3000gns for the reserve champion, Matt’s Hickory ET, from Northern Ireland breeder, Matthew Burleigh, Shanra, Enniskillen. This gimmer bred from Matt’s Deeteebee ET, is sired by Buckles Fizzy Pop and sold carrying a single lamb by Buckles Horrace.
Another from the same stable, Matt’s Hot Chocolate ET was bought by Andrew Wainwright of the Todhall flock, Cupar, at 1600gns. Another by Buckles Fizzy Pop, she changed hands and scanned with a pair to Todhall Hurricane.
Sion Jones’ part reduction of the Fronarth flock, Pennant, Llanon, peaked at 2200gns for Fronarth Head over Heels ET. This Osprey Geronimo daughter is out of the Pantgwyn Wil-sired Fronarth Beauty and sold to new breeder, Stuart Robson, Galashiels, carrying a pair to Glantre Geronimo.
Another new breeder, Anne MacPherson, Croy, Inverness, went to 1600gns for Fronarth High As A Kite ET, also by Osprey Gernoimo, but bred from Wannop’s Flick. She is carrying triplets to Clary Dumfries.
Matching that 1600gns price was Buckles Hopes and Dreams ET from Kevin Buckle and sons, Jack and Tom, Kirkby Stephen. Their Logie Durno Godfather daughter is out of Buckles Felicity and sold due with twins to Todhall Harris to Hannah Pedley, Kirkby Stephen.
Wade and Alison McCrabbe’s first production sale from their base at Raphoe, Co Lifford, peaked at 2200gns for Ardstewart Hailey ET which sold to new breeders, Craig Douglas and Kiri Bass, Penrith. This Riverview Fury daughter, out of Ardstewart Dory, an Iglo V/D Drie Musschen daughter, changed hands due with a pair to Ardstewart Jack The Ripper.
Anne MacPherson also went to 2100gns for Ardstewart Hokey Cokey, another by Riverview Fury, this time bred from the Woodies Dapper-bred Ardstewart Fifi. She is scanned a single to the newly imported Aramis De Noblehaye.
Selling for 1800gns to Gordon and Lynsey Carroll of the Edendiack flock, Huntly was Ardstewart Humming Bird, another by Fury carrying twins to the Aramis ram. Her dam is Ardstewart Exotic.
At 1650gns was Ardstewart Hayden Hadley ET, a Swffryd Express-sired gimmer due with a pair to Aramis purchased by Lin Calcraft of the Lapley flock, Devon.
Owen Wells paid 1600gns for Ardstewart Hanky Panky ET which he takes home to his Barleyclose Flock near Bakewell. Scanned with triplets, she is also by Swffryd Express and out of Ardstewart Fly-by-me.
The dispersal of Alan Munro’s Loandhu flock peaked at 1400gns for Loandhu Fiona, an Airyolland Wurzel daughter. She sold to Simon Stephen for his Glencoe Flock, Nairn, scanned with twins to Culsh Exclusive.
