An online multi-breed pedigree sheep sale from Stuart Wood and Stasa Moyse’ Aberdeenshire-based Woodies and Saltire flocks through Harrison and Hetherington was topped by the first lot in the catalogue at £3900.
The Blue Texel three-crop ewe, Saltire Blue Euphoria, found a new home with Messrs Roberts, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Her pedigree features Saltire Blue Casanova onto Saltire Blue A Beauty and she sold carrying two lambs to the 5000gns Quarryview Hank.
The same buyers went to £2900 for the gimmer, Saltire Blue Giggle by the imported Hulk. Bred from one of the foundation ewes, she scanned a pair to Sams Hercules.
David Morrison, Girvan, Ayrshire, went to £2600 for the three-crop ewe, Saltire Blue Eyes On You, which changed hands carrying a single lamb to Cracking Hulkmania. At £2500 Saltire Blue Glamour was purchased by Messrs MacKenzie and Sons, Boat of Garton, Inverness, who got for their money a daughter of Glan-y-Mor Einstein, bred from Saltire Blue Catch Me If You Can. She sold carrying a pair of lambs to Quarryview Hank.
Leading the Beltex at £2600 was the gimmer, Woodies Honeycomb, purchased by Messrs MacGregor, Glasgow. A daughter of the 30,000gns Finders Keepers, she sold carrying a pair to Vickys Gladiator which has bred daughters to 8000gns and sons to 4500gns twice.
Messrs Carroll, Huntly, purchased a ewe and a gimmer for £2400 and £2100 respectively. Dearest was the 2021-born ewe, Mellor Vale Gorgeous, bred from the 7200gns Woodies Earwig and sired by Aviemore Festival. She is also sold scanned a pair to Smart Ass Jackpot.
The latter came was Woodies Just Class Woo, a Shawtonhill Gypsy King daughter, bred from the 5000gns Wannops Ethel.
An imported Woodies ewe led the Badger Face Texel trade at £1900 when selling to Messrs Pedley, Kirkby Stephen. Sired by Kaasenbrook she is out of Woodies Madonna and is scanned in lamb to Full Monty. Dutch Spotteds peaked at £900 for the ewe lamb, Woodies Golden Girl, purchased by Messrs Smith, Harrogate. She is sired by Tiptop Charlie.
