For the second time in a week James and Ellie Amphlett’s Topwood flock led the Texel female trade when selling at the English National sale at Worcester.
The young couple’s topper at 16,000gns this time, was an ET bred daughter of Garngour Destiny out of a Teiglum-bred dam by the former sire of the year, Knock Bantastic. Champion at the Three Counties Show, she was knocked down to Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk.
Robert Cockburn continued his run of success selling the female and reserve overall champion for 5600gns. This was a New View Electrifying daughter out of a dam by Baltier Rascal and from the same family as the 145,000gns Knap Vicious Sid. She found a new home with Charlie Fielder, Romsey for the Test Valley flock.
Robert Laird and family’s fifth prize gimmer from the pre-sale show, from Cambwell, Biggar, made 2600gns. Sired by Cowal Escobar, she is out of a dam by Fordafourie Young Star and was the pick of Thomas Adams for the Ty Medi flock, Cowbridge.
Roy and Elizabeth Campbell of the Royel flock, Cumbria, forked out 1800gns for an Alderview Explosive-sired gimmer from Northern Irish breeder Gary Beacom.
