Scotch Mule gimmers sold to £270 per head for a pen of four from John Guild, Laight, New Cumnock, at Craig Wilson’s first sale of breeding sheep of the season.
At the pre-sale show, judge James Nisbet, Sorn Mains, found his champion winners in a pen from J Paterson, East Dykes which realised £200, with the reserve from William Stevenson, Auchenflower, selling for £195.
Leading the Mule ewe lambs, the champions from R and M Dunlop and Son, Pinvalley, a pen of 40 made £180, with the reserve winners from A Paton and Co, Craig selling for £155.
With the combination of lambs being smaller on the year and the extreme high rate of last year, averages slipped £20 on the year to level at £130.88, for 244 more sold. Gimmers fell £11.39, to average £172.11 for 285 more sold.
