A Mule ewe hogg with a single Bluefaced Leicester tup lamb at foot from A McKenzie and Partners, Ardgate, sold for the top price of £500 per life at United Auctions' sale of 4290 breeding sheep, at Stirling, on Monday

Judge, Iain Wilkinson Balgay, found his champion winners in a pen of Mule hoggs with lambs at foot from the same home, which went on to realise £170, with the reserve, Aberfield cross Cheviots, from D Hamilton, Allanton, achieving the same money.

Texel cross hoggs with lambs sold to £168 per life from JW Kay, Gass, whilst Cheviot Mule hoggs with lambs peaked at £145 for S Knox and Sons, North Balloch.

Most section averages increased on the year, with Aberfield hoggs with lambs taking the biggest jump at £151.00 per life (+£13.40). Scotch Mule hoggs with lambs and Texel cross hoggs with lambs levelled at £129.28 (+£2.22) and £125.50 (+£2.56) respectively. Cheviot Mule hoggs with lambs averaged £132.53 (+£0.78), with Suffolk cross hoggs with lambs at £110.23 (-£19.86).
