A gimmer from John Elliot’s Roxburgh flock, based at Roxburgh Mains, Kelso ruled supreme at the Christmas Cracker sale of in-lamb Texels at Carlisle, securing the lead price of 2800gns.

Topping the trade was a daughter of Walston Clansman, a sire bought at the Kelso alternative sale for £12,000, while the dam goes back to the 40,000gns Haddo Balvenie. Adding to her future potential, she sold carrying a pair to Fimber Elysium, a high index ram purchased at Skipton. Final bidders here were Messrs Furness and Taylor, Buxton, Derbyshire.

Jonathan Watson, Bowsden Moor, Berwick-Upon-Tweed, received 2000gns, for an in-lamb gimmer, carrying a pair to Yarrow Diamond – an 8000gns purchase here. A daughter of the £10,000 Craig Douglas Crackerjack, bred from a Brackenridge Strongbow sired-dam, she found a new home with Messrs Patterson and Son, Capheaton, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Mr Watson's Brijon flock also took 1600gns for another in-lamb gimmer, purchased by Messrs Blenkhorn, Bewholme. Yorkshire. She is by Duhonw Backlash, out of a ewe by Blaencar Bruiser and sold carrying a pair to Loosebeare Digger.

Top price for the Ingram's Logie Durno flock from Pitcaple, Inverurie was 1800gns for a Granite Chieftain gimmer whose full brother made £32,000 at Kelso in September. She is out of a ewe by Kimbolton Warrior due to Feddal Road Easy Peasy and sold to Messrs Furness and Taylor, Buxton.
