A Pedigree Beef Day sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, saw prices peak at 4200gns for the British Blue champion Knockagh Show King, from the Ervine family, Northern Ireland.
The sale of Aberdeen Angus, Beef Shorthorn, British Blues, Charolais, Herefords and Salers was topped by a rising two-year-old bull by Empire D’ Ochain, out of Knockagh Lass. He was knocked down to Alan Baillie, Challochglass, Kirkcowan, Newton Stewart.
The same purchaser also went to 4000gns for Top Side Sumo from Ross and Elaine Pattinson, Temon, Brampton. This November 2022-born bull is by Dafydd D’Ochain and bred from the show cow, Top Side Isla.

Beth Hill, Woodend, Carnwath, took 3400gns for the March 2023-born bull Kenray Thunder, from Messrs Fish, Aspatria, Wigton. A son of Kenray Padrick, he is bred from Kenray Orla.
Aberdeen Angus sold to 4100gns for Tree Bridge Pattinson from D Evans, Tree Bridge, Nunthorpe. This 17-month-old bull is sired by Tree Bridge Prospector and out of Tree Bridge Polly Pride. Messrs Martin, Little Orton, Carlisle, were the final bidders.
Lessonhall Kinsman Z037 then realised 3900gns for David Steel, Lessonhall, Wigton, when the hammer fell to Messrs Carter, Gerrard House, Wigton. This March 2023-born bull is by Netherallan Peter Pershore.
Top priced Charolais at 3400gns was the January 2023-born bull Retties Ultravox, from Richard and Carol Rettie, Dyke, Slamannan, Falkirk. By Westcarse Houdini, he is bred from Retties Nena and again sold to Alan Baillie, Kirkcowan.
Herefords reached 2600gns for Moorside 1 Apex, a bull from G and MC Shepherd’s Moorside herd, from Woodplumpton, Penrith, purchased by Messrs Gardhouse, Cumdivock, Dalston.
Beef Shorthorns sold to 2000gns for a female from H and N Solan, Burnfoot, when selling to Messrs Robinson, Helton, Penrith.
A trio of Salers females from Terence Pye, Leven Fields, Middleton-on-Leven, Yarm, achieved 1800gns each with all selling to Messrs Reay, Hexham.
