Top prices of 6500gns and 5500gns were achieved at Chris Bellerby’s Dale Beef Shorthorn dispersal sale at Skipton Auction Mart, where both lots sold to Messrs Aston, Wetherby.

The dispersal from Bridge House Farm, Weeton, Harrogate, saw 91 head forward and was topped by Beautry Tessa Mildred, a six-year-old cow by Poynington Himself which sold with the bull calf, Dale Victor, at foot.

At 5500gns, the same buyers bought Beautry Shina Pandora which changed hands with Gilven Panther heifer calf, Dale Virginia, at foot.

Just behind on 5000gns, Richard Milner, Stainforth, bought Dale Rita, a three-year-old Halford Spartan Warrior daughter with Gilven Panther-sired heifer calf, Dale Valencia.

Two outfits made 4000gns with the first being Dale Phoebe, a second calved four-year-old by Gilven Laurence, a cow which again sold with a Gilven Panther heifer calf. This lot was purchased by New York Farms, of Silsden Moor.

Matching that price was Ingleston Marguerite Rose, a similarly-aged Gilven Kerrowmoar-sired cow which changed hands with Dale Tyson, a bull calf by Panther. Linley Farms, Bishops Castle, were the final bidders.

The two young stock bulls sold to 3800gns for Dale Ted, a 13-month-old Napoleon of Upsall son, out of Shuna Pandora.

Yearling maiden heifers saw a pair of Gilven Panther daughters out of home-bred cows reach 2800gns, with both selling to Linley Estate.

The dispersal included a consignment of Beef Shorthorn cross-bred cows with Limousin calves at foot which reached £2200 for second calved cows with steer calves and £2100 twice with heifer calves. The eight outfits averaged £1950.
