Females
The female champion, a sole white May 2022 born heifer, Balgay Silky Blythesome, went on to secure the lead priced female at 4000gns for Balgay Farms. Brought out by farm manager and share farmer, Iain Wilkinson, Balgay, Inchture, Perth, she paraded three months in calf to Fearn Ribeye, which was bought privately. A daughter of Glenisla Macleod she is bred from Balgay Silky Blythesome, which goes back to Chapelton Braveheart. This one now travels to Shetland with J Dodge, Aith, Cunningburgh.
The same home sold the reserve champion in the form of the March 2022 born heifer, Balgay Crimson Tide, which later made 3000gns. By the same sire she is out of Balgay Crimson Tide and also sold three months in calf to the same bull. Final bidders here was A Polson, Westerloch, Wick, Caithness.
Balgay Greta Gigha also made 3000gns when selling to GE Tomlinson, Red Robin, Bromley. A daughter of Glenisla Macleod she is out of Balgay Greta Gigha.
Bill and Jane Landers, and son, Bobby, Cairnsmore, Bargaly, Newton Stewart, sold their best May 2022 born heifer, Cairnsmore Sophia Gabby for 3700gns. Selling free of the bull she is sired by Redhill Lord Thunder, which was purchased as a calf privately from Brenda Wear, and out of Cairnsmore Gabreilla Beyonce, which goes back to Chapelton Dauphin. Buying back some of her own genetics Brenda Wear, Hilltop, Butconbe, Bristol, took this heifer home.
Next best at 3600gns was Burllie Sheila from David and Mairi Wyllie, The Gill, Cummertrees, Annan. This roan 19-month-old heifer is the result of a mating between the sire, Cairnsmore Landmark and the dam, Gilven Sapphire Lily. Selling free of the bull this third prized heifer sold to L and G Glynis Guild, Back O Laight, New Cumnock.
Mountbenger Sally realised 3000gns for George Irving, Mountbenger, Yarrow, Selkirk. Placed fifth in the show she is scanned in calf to Dunsyre Patriach, being a daughter of Meonside Nosty and bred from the Chapelton Destiny sired-dam, Mountbenger Kirsty. The hammer fell to Stewart and Katherine Mcintosh, Borthwickshiels, Hawick.
