Breeding cattle records were smashed at Caledonian Marts' show and sale at Stirling on Monday, when the champion outfit from Craig and Teen Malone sold for £7500.
Surpassing the previous Cale record of £7100 – also achieved by a Pitcairn outfit in 2018 – was a British Blue cross heifer with a Limousin cross bull calf at foot, purchased by Gordon Cameron, Acharacle, Fort William.
Such was the demand for Pitcairn breeding heifers that the couple sold 12 outfits to average a whopping £4350. They also produced the second top priced lot at £7000, a Limousin cross with a Limousin cross heifer calf at foot. It was knocked down to James Porter, West Carrabus, Islay.
The reserve champion heifer and calf outfit, selected by the judge, Lloyd Fowlie, Guise, Alford, from M and A Wyllie, Skeldron Drive, Ayr, made £5400, while the third prize winner from J McAlister, West Thomaston, Banknock, was knocked down at £4500.
West Thomaston and Pitcairn also took £4800 for individual heifers with calves.
