Averages increased on the year at Darlington Farmers Auction Marts' Mid-March Extravaganza show and sale of store cattle sale, when 128 steers and 183 heifers cashed in at £1152 (+£118) and £1072 (+£72) respectively.
Leading the proceedings at £1760 was a Limousin cross heifer from PRE Marwood, Huller Bush, whilst steers peaked at £1665 for a Limousin from WA Wardman of Thrushwood, Yearby.
At the pre-sale show, judge, John Smith-Jackson, Haltwhistle, found his champion in a Limousin cross steer from the Stones family of Nun Cote Nook, Marrick, which later realised £1510 when the hammer fell to W and L Thompson, Pickering
Reserve was a black Limousin cross heifer from HS Hutchinson, White House, that made £1280 to MF Hall, Ponteland.
Young bulls averaged £1234, having reached £1500 for Limousin crosses from WA Richardson, Hutton Fields.
A pair of Texels from JE Holliday and Son, Woodland House, led the store hoggs at £124.
