Top Aberdeen-Angus cross and other native breeds hitting the desired specification will be selling for that magical £5 per deadweight kg, following this week’s 10p per kg rise.
The massive jump on Monday, follows last week’s all steer and all heifer average increase in Scotland, of 4.9p and 5.9p, per kg, respectively. This puts the all steer average at 478.3p, with those of the opposite sex cashing in at 480.9p, with the top grades reaching 487.3p.
Young bulls and heifers sold in Scotland also jumped on the week to level at 458.7p and 393.4p per deadweight kg – up 7.2p and 0.9p, respectively.
However, as reported in previous weeks, the Scotch premium appears non existent with best cattle south of the Border closer to 490p, compared to those in Scotland.
