A heifer from David and Tom Bradley Farmer’s Wester Parkgate-based Meonside herd, from Dumfries, led the way amongst the Beef Shorthorn females when topping the trade at 5000gns.
Their sale leader, Meonside Irania Rosebud Raven, is a May 2021-born daughter of the home-bred bull, Meonside King Kong – which is producing some of the best females in the herd to date. Bred out of the Knockenjig Foremost-sired Coldrochie Irania Rosebud, she sold free of the bull to Natasha and Richard Mann, Iken Hall Farms, Suffolk, as a foundation female for a new herd.

Their entry is by stock bull Tamhorn Glen and out Aberdona Rothes Mynah. No stranger to the show circuit, this youngster was reserve female champion at last year’s Stars of the Future Calf Show, and made up part of the winning pair for Joe Watson Memorial Trophy. Reserve senior female at Livescot, she was knocked down to Leanne Green, Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
The pre-sale section champion, Mountbenger Rachel, from George Irving’s Yarrow-based herd made 4000gns when selling to AC Farms, Langham, Rutland. The April 2021-born Coldrochie Lincoln-sired female is bred from Mountbenger Gabby and sold in calf to Meonside Nosty, a 12,000gns purchase here in 2021.
