The Beef Shorthorn pre-sale judge, Iain Green, Corskie, backed his decision at Stirling bull sales when he bought his champion for 16,000gns.
A 66% clearance rate was achieved for the 59 bulls sold which averaged £5697 (down £49 on the year), with heifers cashing in at £3068 for just 14 sold.
That was the April 2021 born bull, Millerston Ramsay, from relatively new breeders, Andrew Thornber and Daughters' Blackbrook herd from Halifax. He was purchased at the dispersal of the late Jack Ramsay's Millerston herd at Stirling as a calf at foot with the dam, Millerston Augusta Heidi Ex92, for 15,000gns and is sired by Bushypark Tiger. Brought out by Allan Jackson, who produced the second prized bull to the champion, Charlesbury Croaghpatrick, which went on to realise 14,000gns.
