The pre-sale champion, a Limousin cross steer, from Messrs Murrray, Roughet Hill, Brampton, secured the lead price of £1950 at Harrison and Hetherington's sale of 627 store cattle, staged at Carlisle, while the reserve from Messrs Moffat, Stone House Gretna, made £1840.

Heifers peaked at £1780 for a British Blue from Messrs Johnston, Westray, Cockermouth, to average £1285, with bullocks cashing in at £1347.

The 377 weanlings were topped at £1420 by a Limousin bull from Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside.

Messrs Byers, Whitehills, sold the top priced bullock at £1400, whilst heifers peaked at £1180 for another Limousin from Messrs Dickinson, East Rackwood.
