The overall champion – a heifer and calf at foot – went on to secure the top price of £6000 for Craig and Teen Malone, Pitcairn, at Caledonian Marts' breeding cattle sale on Monday.
Judge, Caroline Brown of The Brown and Mason Herd, Clapham, North Yorkshire, found her reserve in a similar outfit from Andrew Wyllie, Skeldon Drive, which later realised £4200.
Among the cows and calves it was a seven-year-old Simmental with an Aberdeen-Angus bullock calf from J and J Kay, Castlehills, that led the trade at £2250.
Bulling heifers sold to £1200 for Herefords from Skeoch Farms, Stirling, whilst a Beef Shorthorn bull attained £3400 for Thistledown Farms, Perth.
