The overall champion, a British Blue cross heifer went on to achieve the top price of £3000 at Harrison and Hetherington's May Day show and sale at Kirkby Stephen, for Messrs Brass, Bridge End, Soulby.

The judge, G Amos, Leicestershire, found his reserve honours in a 13-month-old British Blue cross steer which made £1715 for Messrs Sowerby, Terrys. However topping the steers at £188 was another similar type from the same home.

Overall steers averaged £1217.66 (+£97.80 on the year) and heifer cashed in at £1141.96 (+£52.71).
