A 590kg Aberdeen Angus cross bullock from the Gray family, Sunnycroft, secured the overall championship at Harrison and Hetherington’s Christmas show at St Boswells.
It later sold for 410p per kg to Kirkup Butchers, Longtown.
Judge, Ryan Briggs of Briggsy’s Butchers, Jedburgh, found his reserve in a 678kg Charolais cross bullock from Messrs Craggs, Glower O’Er Him, that made 355p.
Bullocks and heifers averaged 338p and 350p respectively.
Lambs sold to £178 for Beltex from Skilmafilly, to average 316p.
Leading the ewe trade at £250 was a Texel from Messrs Howey, Broomiebank, whilst the same breed topped the rams at £235 from Messrs Ogilvie, Ballencreiff Mains.
