Heifers from JA Barnett, Brinns Farm, Shap, secured both the champion and reserve honours at Mitchells Auction Company’s Christmas show and sale of prime cattle.

Judge Paul Gentry, on behalf of Wooley Brothers, awarded the championship to a British Blue heifer that later sold for the top prices of £4396 and 700p per kg.

The reserve a Limousin heifer, realised £3101.70 or 490p per kg.
